Abstract
The current dissertation inquires about the effect of the rosemary extract discerning the hair damage and color formation when applying an alkali hair dye with rosemary additives. Rosemary is known to be a natural herb plant and have high antioxidant efficacy. Also by measuring elasticity strength, tensile elongation and color, the following conclusion have been reached. In result of elasticity strength, when testing A2 having 5% of rosemary ethanol extract additive it resulted in 131.34 ¡¾ 8.86 gf/§±, showing similar results with the comparison group and minimizing hair damage. In result of tensile elongation, when testing alkali hair dye A1 that had no rosemary additive, it resulted in 180.14 ¡¾ 44.54% measuring less than the comparison group. Also in result of testing alkali hair dye A2 having 55 of rosemary extract additive, it resulted in 194.77 ¡¾ 55.72% measuring less than the comparison group but measuring higher than the group without the rosemary extract additive. In result of measuring hair color, comparing L* value, the alkali hair dye A1 with no rosemary extract additive showed a decreasing tendency compared to comparison group C and the alkali hair dye A2 with rosemary extract additive showed an increasing tendency in brightness value. In the a* value, the alkali hair dye A2 with rosemary extract was measured close to the Red affiliation. In the case of b* value, the alkali hair dye A2 with rosemary extract was measured close to the Yellow affiliation. Considering all above results, when dyeing hair with rosemary ethanol extract, hair damage is minimized and color expression is brighter showing outstanding efficacy in dyeing property. But it is considered that in order to be used as a hair dye further study in durability and retentiveness is needed.
